Basketball Player of the Week
Tanner Carnes, Methodist -
The senior forward from Ayden, North
Carolina led the Monarchs to a 75-72 win over Maryville in the
team's only contest last week by tallying a double-double
of 28 points and ten rebounds. He also added one assist and one
steal in the victory. Also Nominated: Keith Crump, Ferrum.
Women's Basketball
Player of the Week
Chelsie Schweers, Christopher
Newport - The Chesapeake, Virginia
senior guard nailed seven three-pointers to lead the Captains
to an 84-68 win over USA South foe Meredith in the team's only
action last week. Schweers scored a game-high 33 points to go
along with six rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Additionally, Schweers knocked down her 300th career three-pointer,
becoming just one of 14 players in NCAA Div. III history to do so.

Meredith; Nikki Wilborn, Greensboro.

Hockaday, Methodist - The Staten
Island, New York freshman forward helped the Monarchs to a
75-72 win over Maryville in the team's only contest last week
by scoring 12 points in 12 minutes played. He also
added five rebounds and two blocks in the victory.
Women's Basketball
Rookie of the Week
Chevena
Pickard, Greensboro - The Greensboro,
North Carolina freshman guard helped The Pride to a 2-0 record
versus USA South competition last week by averaging 12.5 points,
3.5 steals, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest. In an 87-42
win over Mary Baldwin, Pickard contributed nine points, two steals,
one rebound and one assist. In a 67-48 victory over Shenandoah,
Pickard totaled 16 points, five rebounds, five steals and two
assists. Also Nominated: Tia Perry, Christopher Newport.
