Golfer of the Week
Chris Olson, Christopher Newport
- The senior from Midlothian, Virginia has
participated in one event to begin the spring season.
Olson placed tied for second at the Pine Needles
Invitational in Southern Pines, North Carolina on March 1
by shooting a seven-over par 149. In the two-day event, Olson
opened with a three-over par 74 then finished with a four-over par
75. His performance helped the Captains to a fourth place
finish. Also Nominated: Ben Nihart, Greensboro; Adam Coelho,
N.C. Wesleyan.
Golf Rookie of the Week
Colby Lyles, N.C. Wesleyan -
The freshman from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina has
participated in two events to begin the spring season. Lyles was
the medalist in a dual match with Millersville in Rocky Mount,
North Carolina on March 10 as he shot a three-over par 147. In
the two-day event, Lyles opened with a
six-over par 78 then finished with a
three-under par 69. His performance helped the Bishops to
the victory. At the Barton Invitational last week, Lyles
placed tied for 40th with a 12-over par 156. In the two-day event,
Lyles opened with a ten-over par 82 then finished with a two-over
par 74. His performance helped the Bishops to a 16th place finish.
Also Nominated: Kirk Mitchell, Greensboro.
