of the Week
Jordan Kidd, Averett - The
sophomore left fielder from Chesapeake, Virginia hit
.563 (9-for-16) with four RBI, one run scored, one double, two
walks and two stolen bases in a 2-2 week for the Cougars. In a
13-6 loss to nationally-ranked Tufts, Kidd was 2-for-4 with one
stolen base. In a 4-0 win over Lynchburg, Kidd was 1-for-3 with one
run batted in, one double and two walks. Finally, in a
doubleheader split with USA South foe Christopher
Newport, Kidd was a combined 6-for-9 with three RBI, one
run scored and one stolen base. Also Nominated: Brandon

the Week
Matt
Mitchell, Averett - The
junior from Hampton, Virginia earned a win in a
4-0 victory over Lynchburg in his only appearance last
week for the Cougars. Mitchell tossed a complete-game, two-hit,
shutout to collect the victory. He allowed just one walk and
struck out eight batters in the win. Also Nominated: Tre'

Softball Player
of the Week
Brittany Parsons, Greensboro -
The senior catcher from Wilkesboro, North
Carolina hit .458 (11-for-24) with 12 RBI, five runs
scored, two doubles, three home runs
and one walk as The Pride posted a 3-3 record last
week. In a doubleheader sweep of USA South foe
Methodist, Parsons was a combined 8-for-10 with eight
RBI, three runs scored, one double and one home run. In two losses
to Guilford, Parson was hitless with one walk. Finally, in a
doubleheader split with USA South rival Christopher Newport,
Parsons was a combined 3-for-8 with four RBI, two runs scored, one
double and two home runs. Also Nominated: Jessica

Softball Pitcher
of the Week
Arielle Stout, Meredith -
The Siler City, North Carolina senior accumulated a 3-0 record
in four appearances, all versus USA South competition, last week
for the Avenging Angels. In 22.2 innings pitched,
Stout allowed four runs, three of which were earned, on
four hits with ten walks and 52 strikeouts. In a 2-0 win
over N.C. Wesleyan, Stout tossed a one-hit shutout and
struck out 16 batters. In a 13-0, five-inning, win over Mary
Baldwin, Stout went the distance and did not allow a hit while
walking one and striking out 14. In an 8-2 victory over Peace,
Stout went all seven innings and allowed two runs on one hit with
seven walks and 16 strikeouts. Finally, in a 7-0 loss to Peace,
Stout collected a no-decision as she came on in relief and allowed
two runs, only one of which was earned, on two hits with two walks
and six strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched. Also Nominated: Kendra

of the Week
Brooke Hewartson, Ferrum -
The Leesburg, Virginia sophomore attacker tallied
20 points on eight goals and 12 assists as the
Panthers posted a 3-0 record last week versus USA South
competition. Hewartson also contributed five draw controls,
four groundballs and one caused turnover last week. In a
13-1 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Hewartson scored three
times and added three assists, two groundballs and two
draw controls. In a 19-3 victory over LaGrange,
Hewartson totaled two goals, a new school-record six assists,
two groundballs and two draw controls. Finally, in a 14-4 win
over Agnes Scott, Hewartson scored three goals, dished out
three assists, caused one turnovers and grabbed one

Lacrosse Defensive Player of the
Week
Hannah Wilkerson, Christopher
Newport - The Falls Church,
Virginia freshman goalkeeper compiled a
2-0 record, including one shutout, last week for the
Captains. Wilkerson spent 120 minutes in goal and made
nine saves while allowing six goals last week. In a
22-0 win over USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan, Wilkerson needed to
make just one save. In a 21-6 victory over Guilford,
Wilkerson eight saves to secure the win. Also Nominated:

Men's Tennis Player of
the Week
Xavier Ruiz, Averett - The senior
from Guayaquil, Ecuador posted a 3-0 record at the
number-two singles position and a 3-0 record at the
number-three doubles flight last week for the
Cougars. Ruiz posted singles wins over opponents
from Greensboro, Chowan and King College. In doubles action,
Ruiz teamed with Bruno Faidutti to earn the three
victories. Also Nominated: Matthew Taylor, Methodist.
Women's Tennis Player
of the Week
Katherine Meindl, Methodist -
The sophomore from Butler, Pennsylvania posted a 2-0
record both the number-two singles and number-one doubles
positions last week for the Monarchs. Meindl earned
straight-set victories over opponents from USA South foes Meredith
and Mary Baldwin. In doubles action, Meindl teamed with
Katherine Flaherty to earn wins over opponents from Meredith
and Ferrum. Also Nominated: Sarah Stafford, Christopher
Newport.

- The freshman shortstop from Mechanicsville,
Virginia hit .350 (7-for-20) with five RBI, four runs
scored, one double, one triple and one walk as the
Captains posted a 4-1 record last week. In a 7-3 win over
Catholic, Steel was 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored and one
double. In a 4-0 victory over Salisbury, Steel was 1-for-4 with one
run batted in. In a 5-3 victory over nationally-ranked Tufts, Steel
was 1-for-3 with two runs scored one triple and one walk. Finally,
in a doubleheader split with USA South foe Averett, Steel was a
combined 2-for-9 with one run batted in. Also Nominated: Sergio

Moore, Averett - The Yorktown,
Virginia freshman earned a win in a 13-1,
eight-inning, victory over USA South foe Christopher
Newport in his only appearance last week for the Cougars.
Moore tossed eight scoreless innings allowing one
unearned run on two hits with three walks and four
strikeouts. Also Nominated: Bryan
Bierlein, Christopher Newport.

Heather Sink,
Shenandoah - The
freshman shortstop from Chesterfield, Virginia hit .571
(8-for-14) with six runs scored, two RBI, two doubles, one triple,
one sacrifice fly and one stolen base as the Hornets posted a
4-0 record last week. In a doubleheader sweep of Mary
Washington, Sink was a combined 4-for-6 with two runs scored, one
triple and one stolen base. In a doubleheader sweep of USA South
foe N.C. Wesleyan, Sink was a combined 4-for-8 with four runs
scored, two RBI and two doubles. Also Nominated: Kelly

Kelsey
Sanfilippo, Greensboro - The freshman from New
Bern, North Carolina posted a 2-1 record last week
in three appearances for The Pride. She totaled 19.2 innings
pitched and allowed six runs, four of which were earned, on 18
hits with four walks and 17 strikeouts. In an 8-2, ten-inning,
win over USA South foe Methodist,
Sanfilippo pitched six innings and did not allow a run,
hit or walk while striking out four batters. In a 4-2,
nine-inning, defeat to Guilford, Sanfilippo took the loss as she
pitched 8.2 innings and allowed four runs, two of which were
earned, on 11 hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. Finally, in
a 7-3 victory over USA South rival Christopher Newport,
Sanfilippo earned the win by tossing five innings, allowing two
runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Also

Samantha
Sisson, Shenandoah - The Keuka
Park, New York freshman midfielder tallied 15 points
on 11 goals and four assists as the
Hornets posted a 3-0 record last week.
Sisson also contributed 11 draw controls, ten groundballs
and eight caused turnovers last week. In an 18-7 win over
Frostburg State, Sisson tallied five goals, one assist,
five draw controls, four caused turnovers and three
groundballs. In a 16-2 victory over USA South foe Methodist,
Sisson totaled three goals, one assist, four draw
controls, one groundball and one caused turnover. Finally, in
a 16-2 win over St. Vincent, Sisson contributed three goals,
two assists, six groundballs, three caused turnovers and two
draw controls. Also Nominated: Micaela Sandoval, Greensboro;
Courtney Hamm, Ferrum; Jessica Singer, Christopher Newport.
Men's Tennis
Rookie of the Week
Greg Patterson, Methodist - The
freshman from Elon, North Carolina earned wins at the
number-three singles and number-one doubles spots in a match with
USA South foe Greensboro which was the team's only action last
week. Patterson lost just one game in his singles match
and teamed with Matthew Taylor to defeat the opponent's top
doubles team. Also Nominated: Andrey Yesyr, Averett.
Women's Tennis
Rookie of the Week
Puja Patel, Meredith - The
freshman from Snowhill, North Carolina posted
a 2-0 record at the number-one singles flight and a 1-1
mark at the number-three doubles position last week for
the Avenging Angels. Patel earned wins over top-players
from Methodist and Southern Virginia. In doubles action,
Patel teamed with Meg Crumpton to defeat their opponents from
Southern Virginia. Also Nominated: Jodi Noland, Christopher
Newport; Laura Baker, Methodist.
