USA South Men's Golf Athletes of the Week - Oct. 19, 2011

Golfer of the Week
          Joe Evans, Christopher Newport - The senior from Hampton, Virginia placed first out of 99 golfers at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational in Flowery Branch, Georgia last week by shooting a four-under par 138. In the two-day event, Evans opened with a five-under par 66 and followed with a one-over par 72. His performance helped the Captains to a first place finish at the event. Also Nominated: Robby Bruns, Methodist.

Golf Rookie of the Week
          Tanner Welsh, Christopher Newport - The freshman from Purcellville, Virginia placed tied for tenth out of 99 golfers at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational in Flowery Branch, Georgia last week by shooting a five-over par 147. In the two-day event, Welsh opened with a four-over par 75 and followed with a one-over par 72. His performance helped the Captains to a first place finish at the event.
