USA South Men's Golf Athletes of the Week - Oct. 26, 2011

Golfer of the Week
          Andrew Bateman, Methodist - The junior from Andrews, North Carolina placed third at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina last week by shooting a three-over par 143. In the two-day event, Bateman opened with a one-under par 69 and followed with a four-over par 74. His performance helped the Monarchs to a second place tie at the event. Also Nominated: Brandon Grogan, Averett.

Golf Rookie of the Week
          Andy Thorne, Averett - The freshman from Woking, England placed tied for 20th at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina last week by shooting a 14-over par 154. In the two-day event, Thorne shot a pair of seven-over 77's. His performance helped the Cougars to a fifth place finish at the event.
