Men's Basketball Player of the Week
          Conley Taylor, Christopher Newport - The senior guard from Newport News, Virginia led the Captains to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 26.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists per contest. In a 94-70 win over Piedmont, Taylor tallied a double-double of 22 points and ten rebounds. He also added four assists in the victory. In a 97-83 win over LaGrange, Taylor totaled 30 points, six rebounds and six steals. Also Nominated: Mark Jernigan, Methodist; T.J. Holman, Greensboro; Justin Pierce, Averett.

Rookies of the Week

Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
          Mike Cherry, Christopher Newport - The Lewiston, North Carolina freshman guard averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game last week as the Captains posted a 2-0 record. In a 94-70 win over Piedmont, Cherry tallied a career-high 20 points with six rebounds, six assists and three steals. In a 97-83 win over LaGrange, Cherry totaled ten points, two assists, two steals and one rebound. Also Nominated: Devonta Davis, Greensboro; Sunil Ram, Averett.
