Baseball Player of the
Week
Jordan Kidd, Averett - The
junior outfielder from Chesapeake, Virginia went 7-for-10
(.700) with five runs scored, four RBI, one double,
two walks and two stolen bases as the
Cougars posted a 2-1 record last week. In a 6-5 loss to
Guilford, Kidd was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, one run batted in
and one double. In a doubleheader sweep of Southern Virginia,
Kidd was a combined 4-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBI, two

the Week
Chris Perry,
Methodist - The Cary, North Carolina
junior earned a complete-game victory in his only appearance
for the Monarchs last week. In a 3-2 win over USA South foe N.C.
Wesleyan, Perry went the distance and allowed two runs on three
hits with one walk and 12 strikeouts. Also Nominated: Ramel

Softball Player of the
Week
Karly Thompson, Ferrum - The
sophomore outfielder from Lorton,
Virginia went 10-for-19 (.526)
with five RBI, five runs scored,
five doubles, two walks and one stolen base as the
Panthers posted a 3-3 record last week. In a doubleheader
split with USA South foe Shenandoah, Thompson was a combined
3-for-6 with one run scored, one double and one walk. In a
doubleheader split with USA South rival Methodist, Thompson was a
combined 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBI, two doubles, one
walk and one stolen base. Finally, in a doubleheader split with
Guilford, Thompson was a combined 4-for-8 with three RBI, one run

Softball Pitcher of
the Week
Whitney Haller, Christopher
Newport - The Chester,
Virginia junior earned a 4-0 record in four
appearances last week for the Captains. Haller totaled
26.0 innings pitched and allowed one earned run (0.27
ERA) on 15 hits with one walk and 23 strikeouts in
four complete-game victories. In a 5-2 win over Virginia Wesleyan,
Haller allowed two unearned runs on four hits with one walk and
four strikeouts. In an 8-0, five-inning, victory over USA South foe
Mary Baldwin, Haller tallied a shutout and allowed two hits with
eight strikeouts. In an 8-1 win over USA South rival Peace, Haller
allowed one run on five hits with eight strikeouts. Finally, in a
4-0 victory over USA South foe Meredith, Haller collected her
second shutout of the week and allwowed four hits with three

Newport - The Great Falls, Virginia
junior defender led the Captains in goals, assists, groundballs and
draw controls as CNU captured the USA South Regular Season title
with a 14-10 victory over Shenandoah in the team's only action last
week. Lane totaled six points on four goals and two assists with
three groundballs, two draw controls and one caused turnover in the

Ziobro, Greensboro; Jasmine Stephens, Methodist; Samantha Sisson,
Shenandoah.

Monica Evans, Christopher
Newport - The Springfield,
Virginia junior defender led the Captains in caused
turnovers as CNU captured the USA South Regular Season title
with a 14-10 victory over Shenandoah in the team's only action last
week. Evans totaled two caused turnovers, two groundballs and
one draw control in the win. Also Nominated: Amanda Cheney,
Ferrum.
Men's Tennis Player of
the Week
Eric Shulman, Christopher
Newport - The senior from Glen Allen,
Virginia earned a 4-0 record at number-one singles and a
3-1 mark at the top doubles position last week for the Captains.
Shulman earned straight-set singles wins over opponents from
Shenandoah, Mary Washington, Averett and Methodist. He teamed
with three different partners to earn the doubles wins. Also
Nominated: Kevin Koval, Greensboro; Kirill Orlov, Averett; Lawrence
Salmon, Methodist.
Women's Tennis Player
of the Week
Sarah Stafford, Christopher
Newport - The Midlothian, Virginia
junior earned a 2-0 record at the number-one singles
spot and a 1-1 mark at the
top doubles spot last week for the
Captains. She earned the singles over opponents from
USA South rivals Shenandoah and
Methodist. Stafford teamed with Kim Morrissett
to collect a doubles win over Shenandoah. Also Nominated:
Laura Baker, Methodist; Meredith Kelly, Greensboro.

Week
James Feldmann,
Greensboro - The freshman second
baseman from Danville, Virginia went 6-for-13 (.462) with
eight RBI, two runs scored, two doubles, one home
run and one walk as The Pride posted a 2-1 record last week.
In a 13-3 win over Emory &
Henry, Feldmann was 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run
scored and one double. In a two-game split with USA South rival
Ferrum, Feldmann was a combined 3-for-8 with five RBI, one run
scored, one double, one home run and one walk. Also Nominated:

James Walsh, Christopher
Newport - The Mechanicsville,
Virginia freshman earned a win in his first career start
last week for the Captains. In his only action of the week, a 5-3
victory over Apprentice School, Walsh went six innings and allowed
two unearned runs on six hits with one walk and eight
strikeouts. Also Nominated: Adam Duncan, Ferrum; Hatteras
Brooks, N.C. Wesleyan; Matt Riegler, Shenandoah.

of the Week
Amanda White, Meredith - The
freshman from Wilmington, North Carolina went 10-for-20
(.500) with six RBI, five runs scored, two doubles, one
triple, one home run, two stolen bases and one walk as the
Avenging Angels posted a 4-2 record last week versus USA South
competition. In a doubleheader sweep of Methodist, White was a
combined 2-for-6 with two RBI, one run scored, one triple and one
walk. In a doubleheader split
with Shenandoah, White was a combined 2-for-6 with
three runs scored, one run batted
in, one double and two stolen bases. Finally, in a
doubleheader split with Christopher Newport, White was a combined
6-for-7 with three RBI, one run scored, one double and one home
run. The lone home run gave Meredith its first-ever Conference win

Pitcher of the Week
Amy Hamlett, Averett -
The Chase City, Virginia freshman earned a 2-0 record in two
complete-game appearances last week for the Cougars versus USA
South competition. Hamlett totaled 14.0 innings pitched and allowed
two runs on 12 hits with five walks and six strikeouts. In a 5-0
win over Greensboro, Hamlett tallied the shutout as she allowed
five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. In a 6-2 victory over
N.C. Wesleyan, Hamlett allowed two runs on seven hits with three
walks and four strikeouts.

Rookie of the Week
Katie Vu, Christopher
Newport - The Annandale,
Virginia freshman attacker scored twice as the
Captains captured the USA South Regular Season title with a
14-10 victory over Shenandoah in the team's only action last week.
Vu also added an assist and two draw controls in the win. Also
Nominated: Liz Bereit, Shenandoah; Sydney
Hewartson, Ferrum.
Men's Tennis Rookie of
the Week
Matthew Miller, Greensboro -
The freshman from Hartland, Wisconsin earned a 2-0 record at
both the number-one singles and doubles positions last week
for The Pride. Miller earned singles wins over opponents from
USA South foes Ferrum and Shenandoah. In doubles action,
Miller teamed with Kevin Koval to earn the
two victories. Also Nominated: Jyri Hayrinen,
Averett.
Women's Tennis
Rookie of the Week
Michelle Hart, N.C.
Wesleyan - The freshman from Rosebud,
Australia earned a 2-0 singles and doubles record last
week for the Bishops. She earned one singles wins at the
number-four position over an opponent from Mt. Olive prior to a win
at the number-three position over an opponent from USA South foe
Mary Baldwin. In doubles, both victories came at the
number-two position with teammate Yvonne Kamegne. Also Nominated:
Angela Stallman, Christopher Newport.
