USA South Men's Golf Athletes of the Week - September 19, 2012

Golfer of the Week
          Brandon Grogan, Averett - The junior from Martinsville, Virginia finished first at the Battle at the Border dual with Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina last week by shooting a two-under par 142. In the one-day event, 36-hole event, Grogan opened with a three-under par 69 and finished with one-over par 73. His performance was not enough to help the Cougars overtake The Pride. Also Nominated: Kirk Mitchell, Greensboro; Matt DiSalvo, Christopher Newport.

Golf Rookie of the Week
          Matt DiSalvo, Christopher Newport - The freshman from Great Falls, Virginia placed tied for 12th at the Tom Kinder Memorial last week by shooting a three-over par 147. In the two-day event, DiSalvo opened with a three-over par 75 and finished with an even-par 72. His performance helped the Captains to a fourth place tie at the event. Also Nominated: John Grimes, Greensboro.
