USA South Presents Sportsmanship Trophy to Averett Athletics

(Danville, VA) - The USA South Athletic Conference presented its 2007 Sportsmanship Trophy to Averett University Athletics during halftime of the Averett/N.C. Wesleyan football game on Saturday, October 13. The 2006-2007 year marked the third time that the USA South Athletic Conference has presented a sportsmanship trophy. This award honors the institution which exhibited the best sportsmanship during the year as voted upon by the Conference’s student athletes.

Averett’s men’s soccer, men’s tennis, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and softball teams all earned individual sport sportsmanship awards last season as the Cougars captured the USA South Sportsmanship Trophy for the second consecutive season.

In addition, Averett was presented with a sportsmanship banner which will hang in the Grant Center, its athletic gymnasium.
