USA South Presents Cans Across the Conference Trophy to Shenandoah

(DURHAM, NC) - The USA South Athletic Conference presented its Cans Across the Conference Trophy to Shenandoah University at the recent USA South Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) meeting on Saturday, February 25. USA South Commissioner Rita Wiggs was on hand to present Shenandoah SAAC Members Rachel Maki, Jon Bannan and Brittany Butcher the award.

In the fall of 2004, the USA South Athletic Conference Student-Athletic Advisory Committee established a Conference-wide canned food drive. A competition amongst the USA South institutions began to benefit local charities. The school collecting the most items during the competition is named the “Cans Across the Conference” champion.

Throughout the Conference, 51,248 items were collected and donated to organizations for distribution to needy families and individuals during this year's competition. After gathering 19,952 items the Hornets captured the 2011 "Cans Across the Conference" Championship.
