USA South SAAC Representatives Conduct Meeting
(DURHAM, NC) - The USA South Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual meeting last weekend in Durham, North Carolina. The USA South SAAC is comprised of two members from each Conference institution.
The group first met on Friday night as Dr. Deborah Jones conducted an educational workshop on leadership. She gave the SAAC members valuable tips on how to successfully lead themselves and others to goals which they would like to attain both on and off the athletic fields. The following morning, the group met for their business session to discuss Conference and NCAA issues that affect the student-athlete.
Additionally, the SAAC members announced
the start date of the USA South's annual spring community service
competition, "Pennies for a Purpose". Now in its fifth
year, this initiative will begin immediately and conclude on
March 31. USA South institutions will collect loose
change which they will donate to local Special Olympic
organizations. The institution collecting the most money will
receive the "Pennies for a Purpose" plaque.
