Greensboro Athletics Unveils Milton E. Reece Media Center
(GREENSBORO, NC) - The Greensboro College athletic department held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony for the Milton E. Reece Media Center on Friday, August 24. With the help of the Reece family, the recently completed media center will benefit all 16 varsity athletic programs.
In attendance included members of the Reece family, friends, athletics department staff and coaches, student-athletes, college faculty and staff, and alumni.
The area has the potential to house many gatherings, including team and athletic department meetings, social functions, recruiting events and more. The room features plentiful seating and state-of-the-art video equipment.
Dr. Reece held the position of Athletics Director at Greensboro College from 1980-1989. In addition, he also served as the Men's Basketball Coach for five seasons, as well as the Men's Golf Coach for six seasons.
Additional roles included Professor of Physical Education and Recreation, President and Sports Information Director of the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Chairman of the Departments of Education and Physical Education, and member of the NCAA Nomination Committee.
Under his leadership, the Athletics Department began softball and swimming; created a major for athletic training; and built the soccer field.
Dr. Reece was awarded Professor Emeritus of Physical Education and Recreation and was inducted into the Greensboro College Athletics Hall of Fame on April 8, 2006.
