USA South Officially Welcomes New Members

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The USA South Athletic Conference welcomes three additions to the league. As of July 1, 2012, LaGrange College, Maryville College and Piedmont College are officially full-members of the USA South. Each institution was a former member of the Great South Athletic Conference. The USA South now consists of 12 full-members and one affiliate member (Agnes Scott, women’s lacrosse). Former league member, Shenandoah University has departed for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

The LaGrange Panthers, located in LaGrange, Georgia, offer eight men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming and tennis) and eight women's sports (basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball). Prior to the coming season, the Panthers were affiliate members of the USA South, participating in women’s lacrosse only.

The Maryville Scots, located in Maryville, Tennessee, offer seven men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer and tennis) and seven women's sports (basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball). Prior to the coming season, the Scots were affiliate members of the USA South, participating in football only.

The Piedmont Lions, located in Demorest, Georgia, offer seven men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer and tennis) and eight women's sports (basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball).

League membership will increase by two beginning with the 2013-14 season as Covenant College and Huntingdon College will become full-members of the USA South. Additionally, Christopher Newport will depart the league prior to the 2013-14 season as all but its football program will join the Capital Athletic Conference.
