Jervey Named Methodist Sports Information Director
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist University Director of Athletics
Bob
McEvoy has announced the hiring of Nate Jervey as
Sports Information Director.
"We are pleased to have Nate Jervey join our
staff,” McEvoy said. “As a former NCAA Division III
student-athlete and most recently an Assistant SID at Washington
and Lee University, he brings a high quality and well rounded SID
experience to our university from both a national and regional
perspective. Our coaching staff and student-athletes look forward
to working with Nate in the years ahead."
Jervey has spent the last four years at Washington and Lee. While
there, he served as the primary media contact at one time for 13 of
the University's 24 sports, including 10 each of the last three
years. Jervey has a wealth of experience beyond event management
and press releases to include broadcasting and graphic design.
A nationally recognized NCAA Division III program, Washington and
Lee hosted many NCAA events during Jervey's tenure and he worked as
part of the host staff for men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and
women's soccer, while also traveling with baseball and volleyball
teams to their respective NCAA sites. His experience should prove
valuable as he is expected to serve as the media relations contact
for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Golf Championships
when Methodist hosts the event May 14-17 in Destin, Fla.
Prior to joining the Generals' staff, Jervey spent a year as Sports
Information Assistant at University of Detroit Mercy where he had
the opportunity to serve on the staff of the 2008 NCAA Division I
Men's Basketball Midwest Regional at Ford Field.
A Michigan native, Jervey essentially began his sports information
career as a student assistant at Alma College while competing in
football and basketball. He graduated in 2007 with bachelor of arts
degrees in political science and history. On the gridiron, Jervey
helped the Scots to a pair of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic
Association titles and was a Second Team All-MIAA selection at wide
receiver as a senior.
"I would like to thank Bob McEvoy for extending me the
opportunity to join the staff at Methodist University,”
Jervey said. “I am excited to begin working with the
outstanding staff and student-athletes at MU and am grateful for
the opportunity to join such a well-respected institution."
