Basketball Student-Athletes Named All-Region

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The USA South Athletic Conference is represented by four student-athletes from three institutions on the recently released All-South Region men's and women's basketball teams.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, who were contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 723 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.

It's the 16th season has named All-Region teams.

On the men's side, Averett University's Charles Bryant, the USA South Men's Player of the Year, earned first team honors while N.C. Wesleyan College's Adrian Moore was selected to the third team. Bryant also earned first team all-district honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

As for the women, Ferrum College's Zarkia Mattox, the USA South Women's Player of the Year, earned first team honors while Averett University's Samm Chandler collected third team accolades.
