Men's Soccer Awards Announced
November 3, 2004 – The USA South Athletic Conference has
announced its All-Conference awards for men's soccer and N.C. Wesleyan,
Greensboro and Methodist lead the way with representatives. Each
team has eight All-Conference members.
Nick Yannitello of Christopher Newport has been named the Player of the
Year. NCWC's Lucas Fuentes is the Rookie of the Year and his
coach, Jason Kilby, is the Coach of the Year.
Yannitello, a senior from Williamsburg, VA led the Captains in goals
(10) and points (25) this season. He helped the team finish the
regular season fourth with a 3-2-1 USA South record, 11-6-2 overall.
This is Yannitello's third consecutive First Team All-Conference honor.
He was named to the Second Team his freshman year in 2001.
Fuentes, a Houston, TX freshman, was instrumental in the Bishops winning
the USA South regular season title. He had 18 goals and 40 points,
good enough to lead the league in both categories.
Kilby, in just his third year as the head of the Bishops, took them to a
first place regular season tile and top seeding in the upcoming
Conference tournament. The team finished 14-1-2 overall, including
going undefeated, 6-0, in the USA South.
