Women's Soccer Awards Announced
November 3, 2004 – The USA South Athletic Conference has
announced its All-Conference awards for women's soccer. Regular
season champion Christopher Newport was represented by eight players,
while Methodist followed closely with seven. CNU's Ashleigh Dota
has been named the Player of the Year. MC's Chrystal Bradley is
the Rookie of the Year. Captains' head coach Kwame Lloyd is the
Coach of the Year.
Dota, a junior midfielder from Woodbridge, VA, played an integral role
in the Captains winning the USA South regular season title. She
was second on the team in points, 19, and first in assists, with seven.
CNU heads into the Conference tournament as the top seed with a 7-0 USA
South record. This is Dota's third consecutive First Team
All-Conference selection and second straight Player of the Year honor.
Bradley, a Fairfax, VA freshman forward, led the Monarchs to an 11-6-2
overall record and second place regular season finish. She
recorded 12 goals and three assists for 27 points this season.
Bradley led the USA South in both points and goals.
Lloyd, in just his fourth season as head coach of the Captains, is
receiving his second Coach of the Year recognition. This year he
led his team to a 7-0 undefeated Conference record and 12-3-3 overall.
The Captains are the top seed and host for the upcoming USA South
tournament.
