Averett Tops Men's, Methodist Women's Tennis Pre-Season Polls

February 2, 2005 - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced the results of its 2005 men's and women's tennis pre-season polls.  For the men, Averett is picked to win the Conference title.  Methodist is predicted to come in second.  On the women's side,  Methodist is predicted to finish first this season, followed by Christopher Newport.  The pole is voted on by the tennis coach at each school. 

The Cougar men finished second in the regular season in 2004 and won the Conference Tournament.  They ended the year 10-7 overall and 5-1 in the USA South.  The Monarchs won the regular season title after going 6-0 in the Conference and 10-4 overall.  They were runners-up at the Tournament. 

The MC women won both the regular season and Conference Tournament in 2004.  The Monarchs finished the year 11-5 overall and 6-0 in the USA South.  Last year CNU was the runner-up in both the regular season and Tournament.  The Captains were 5-1 in the Conference and 13-3 overall.
