Greensboro Picked USA South
Preseason Volleyball Favorite
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Greensboro College, under the direction of Head Coach
Jean Lojko in her 24th-year,
was picked in the preseason coaches' poll to win the USA South Athletic
Conference volleyball title in 2005. The Pride, six-time
conference regular season champions shared the 2004 title with Averett
University and Christopher Newport University.
Greensboro received four of eight first place votes (46 points)
as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Christopher Newport, a tri-champ a season ago,
finished second in the balloting with 44 points and three first place
votes. Averett
rounded out the top-three as the Cougars collected 39 points and one
first place vote.
The volleyball regular season gets underway on Thursday, September 1
when Averett travels to Sweet Briar and Shenandoah visits Wilson.
