Picked USA South Preseason Women's Basketball Favorite
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Greensboro College, under the direction of
fourth-year Head Coach Jason Tuggle, was picked in the preseason
coaches' poll to win the USA South Athletic Conference 2005-06 women's
basketball title. The Pride are coming off a banner season as they
were the USA South regular season and tournament champions and appeared
in the NCAA Tournament last season.
Greensboro received three of eight first-place votes (40 points) as head
coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Christopher Newport University finished second in the balloting with 39
points and one first-place vote. Peace College rounded out the
top-three as the Pacers collected 36 points and two first-place vote.
The 2005-06 campaign tips-off on Friday, Nov. 18 all USA South women's
basketball teams are all in action.
