Christopher Newport Picked to Defend
USA South Women's Soccer Title
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Christopher Newport
University, under the direction of fifth-year Head Coach Kwame Lloyd,
was picked in the preseason coaches' poll to win the USA South Athletic
Conference women's soccer title in 2005. The Captains, are the
three-time defending champions of the USA South regular season title.
Christopher Newport received seven of eight first place votes (49 points)
as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Methodist College finished second in the balloting with 42 points and
one first place
vote. Greensboro College
rounded out the top-three as The Pride collected 38 points.
The women's regular season gets underway on Thursday, September 1
when Methodist, Shenandoah University and Averett University all take to
the field in non-conference matches.
