All-Conference Honorees Headline
All-Star Rosters for the ODAC and the USA South
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) -
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference and
the USA South Athletic Conference are collaborating to conduct an ODAC/USA
South Senior Basketball Challenge on Wednesday, March 22, 2006. All-Conference honorees for both
Conferences headline the rosters. In the women’s game seven All-ODAC
honorees are on the ODAC roster and five All-USA South honorees appear
on the USA South roster. On the men’s side five All-USA South honorees
are present on the roster while four All-ODAC seniors are on the ODAC
roster.
Headlining
the ODAC women’s roster are three first team All-ODAC honorees:
Randolph-Macon College’s Megan Silva (Glen Allen, Va./Hermitage),
Guilford College’s Jennifer King (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County)
and Bridgewater College’s Marsha Kinder (Bridgewater,
Va./Turner Ashby). Silva is a three-time ODAC Player of the
Year and was first in the Conference in scoring, averaging 23 points a
game and was first in rebounding, pulling down 6.34 boards a game
through the second round of the NCAA Tournament. King’s 22 points a
game was second in the ODAC while her 3.5 rebounds a game ranked her 12th
in the Conference. Kinder was fourth in the ODAC in scoring after
averaging 17.7 points a game through the second round of the NCAA
Tournament. Other All-ODAC members on the ODAC roster are second team
members Michelle Orton (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) of
Randolph-Macon College and Meghan Stensurd (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax)
of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and honorable mention honorees,
Stephanie Mathews (Woodstock, Va./Central) of Eastern Mennonite
University and Coby Wilmer (Buena Vista, Va./Parry McCluer) of Hollins College.
Headlining
the USA South women’s roster are two first team All-USA South honorees:
Peace College’s Tia Saunders (Lawndale, N.C./Burns) and
Greensboro College’s Sirlena Moore (Washington, D.C./Newport School).
Saunders was second in the USA South in scoring after averaging 17.2
points a game while ranking fourth in rebounding, pulling down 10 boards
a game. Moore’s 13.5 points a game was sixth in the Conference and her
10.1 rebounds a game was second in the USA South. Other All-USA South
honorees on the roster are, Ferrum College’s Tawanna McCall (Bassett,
Va./Bassett) and honorable mention honorees, CeCe Carter
(Greensboro, N.C./Ben L. Smith) from Averett University and Peace’s
Lindy Cartwright (Kill Devil
Hills, N.C./Manteo).

On the men’s side the ODAC has one first
team All-ODAC honoree. Randolph-Macon’s Justin Wansley (Richmond,
Va./Henrico) was named All-Conference first team after ranking
second in rebounding, pulling down eight boards a game and finishing
sixth in scoring, averaging 15.4 points a game. Other All-Conference
honorees on the ODAC men’s roster are Roanoke College’s Jared Butler
(Springfield, Va./West Springfield) and Bridgewater’s Clay
Michael (Indwood, W.Va./Musselman) who were second-team honorees and
honorable mention honoree, Andy Albright (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) of
Lynchburg College.
The USA South men’s roster features three first team All-USA South
performers: Greensboro College's Steve Berg (Ocala, Fla./Belleview),
Seth Thomas (Jacksonville, N.C./Southwest Onslow) of Methodist
College and Averett University’s Sterling Williams (Halifax,
Va./Halifax). Berg, the USA South Player of the Year, averaged
18.6 points a game and 5.5 rebounds a game in 17 games for The Pride.
Thomas was seventh in the Conference in scoring after averaging 1.4
points a game and was fourth in rebounding after pulling down 7.3
rebounds a game. Williams was second in the Conference in rebounding,
averaging 4.54 rebounds a game and was tenth in scoring, averaging 11.5
points a game. Other All-USA South players on the USA South’s men’s
roster are Eugene Grant (Rockingham, N.C./Richmond Senior) of
Methodist and Christopher Newport University’s Jeremy Romeo
(Yorktown, Va./Tabb), who each earned second team All-Conference
honors.
