Methodist
Picked to Defend USA South Golf Title
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Methodist College, under
the direction of 19th-year Head Coach Steve Conley, was picked to win the USA South Athletic Conference
2006 golf title in the preseason coaches' poll. The Monarchs are coming off their
23rd
USA South title and their 24th appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Methodist received six of seven first-place votes (36 points) as head
coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Greensboro College, the 2005 Conference runner-ups finished
second in the balloting with 31 points and one first-place vote.
Christopher Newport University rounded out the top-three as the Captains
collected 26 points.
The 2006 USA South Golf Tournament will played on the par 72, 7101 yard
Stoney Creek Golf Club in Burlington, N.C. on April 14-15.
