Christopher Newport Selected as USA South Lacrosse Favorite
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Christopher Newport
University, under
the direction of fifth-year Head Coach Kwame Lloyd, was picked to win
the USA South Athletic Conference 2006 lacrosse title in the preseason coaches' poll. The
Captains have won or shared three regular season tiles in the five year
history of lacrosse in the USA South.
Christopher Newport received four of seven first-place votes (34 points) as head
coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Greensboro College finished
second in the balloting as The Pride received 30 points and two first-place vote.
Shenandoah University, the 2005 tournament champions, rounded out the top-three as the
Hornets collected 29 points and one first-place vote.
The 2006 USA South Lacrosse Tournament will played at Springwood Park in Burlington, N.C. on April 14-15.
