USA South Lacrosse Awards
Announced
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The USA South Athletic
Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for lacrosse. A
total of 37 student-athletes have been named to the USA South
All-Conference teams for lacrosse. Methodist College's Lindsey
West has been named the Player of the Year and Averett University's
Vanessa Jordan is the Rookie of the
Year. Averett head coach Katie Talbert is the 2006 Coach of the Year.
West, a senior from Davidsonville, Md., was third in the
conference in; goals per game, assists per game and points per game. She was instrumental in the
Monarchs finishing third in the conference, as they posted a 11-3 overall
record and 3-2 record in the USA South. West recorded 59 goals and

assists on the year. This marks her third consecutive year
receiving First Team All-Conference as she earned First Team honors in
2005 and 2004.
A freshman from Westbrook Maine, Jordan recorded 59 goals and 11
assists this past season. Jordan took 105 shots this season and
93 of those shots were shots on goal. She helped the Cougars earn a
fourth
seed in the upcoming tournament as they finished 3-3 in the Conference and
9-6 overall.
Talbert, in her second year at the helm of the Cougars, led the team to
their best record (9-6) in the program's history. With a 11-3 win
over Shenandoah on Feb. 26 the Cougars claimed their first win in school
history. Averett enters this week's conference tournament as the
No. 4 seed after finishing the USA South regular season, 3-3.
