November 6, 2006 Greensboro Wins USA South Men's Soccer Tournament Championship (FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2006 USA South Men's Soccer Tournament concluded Saturday, Nov. 4 with Greensboro College defeating Christopher Newport University by way of penalty kicks. The Pride and Captains played to a 0-0, double overtime, tie before having to decide the championship with penalty kicks. Greensboro hit four of its five kicks while Christopher Newport hit only three. With the victory, The Pride receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Greensboro will now advance to the NCAA Tournament and travel to Virginia Wesleyan to play on Nov. 11 in the first round. Joining The Pride in Norfolk, Virginia on Nov. 11 will be N.C. Wesleyan who received an at-large bid to play Lynchburg in first round action. Finally, another team receiving an at-large bid was Christopher Newport. The Captains will host Chestnut Hill on Nov. 8 in their first round game.
