Methodist
Picked as USA South Softball Favorite
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Methodist College, under
the direction of eighth-year Head Coach Ron Simpson, was picked to win the USA South Athletic Conference
2006 softball title in the preseason coaches' poll. The Monarchs
were the conference regular season champions in 2005.
Methodist received six of eight first-place votes (48 points) as head
coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Christopher Newport University finished
second in the balloting as the Captains received 38 points and one first-place vote.
Greensboro College rounded out the top-three as The Pride
collected 35 points.
The 2006 USA South Softball Tournament will played at Springwood Park in
Burlington, N.C. on April 13-15.
