USA South Volleyball Tournament First Round Action
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2006 USA South
Volleyball Tournament has begun with all first round matches being
played on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Top-seeded Averett had little difficulty,
defeating eighth-seeded Peace, 3-0. Second-seeded Christopher Newport
disposed of seventh-seeded Shenandoah, 3-0. Third-seeded Greensboro
defeated sixth-seeded N.C. Wesleyan, 3-0. Finally, fourth-seeded
Ferrum advanced with a win over fifth-seeded Methodist, 3-0.
The tournament now shifts to Averett University on Friday and Saturday,
Nov. 3-4, as the top-seeded Cougars host the semifinals and finals. On
Friday, Greensboro will battle Christopher Newport in the first game at 4:00 p.m., followed by
Ferrum taking on Averett at 7:00 p.m. The championship match will be the
following day at 12:00 p.m.
