Picked As USA South Preseason Women's Basketball Favorite
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Greensboro College, under the direction of
fifth-year Head Coach Jason Tuggle, was picked in the preseason
coaches' poll to win the USA South Athletic Conference 2006-07 women's
basketball title. The Pride are currently the two-time defending USA South regular season and tournament champions.
Last season, Greensboro earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament and advanced
to the second round before bowing out.
Greensboro received five of eight first-place votes (46 points) as head
coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Christopher Newport University finished second in the balloting with 45
points and three first-place votes. Ferrum College rounded out the
top-three as the Panthers collected 34 points.
The 2006-07 campaign tips-off on Friday, Nov. 17 when Averett
University, Christopher Newport University, Greensboro
College, Methodist College, N.C. Wesleyan College and Peace College are all in action.
