USA South Women's Tennis Awards
Announced
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The USA South Athletic
Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for women's tennis.
A total of 19 student-athletes have been named to the USA South
All-Conference teams for women's tennis. Greensboro College's
Carrie Pacifico has been named the Player of the Year and Christopher
Newport University's Lindsey Pantele has been named the Rookie of the
Year.
Methodist College head coach Francie Barragan was named the 2006
Coach of the Year.
Pacifico, a sophomore from Charleston, W. Va. was an impressive 6-0 in conference at
No. 1 singles. At No. 1 doubles she was 5-1 in conference play. She helped
Greensboro to 6-9
overall record and a 3-4 record in the conference.
Pantele, a freshman from Richmond, Va., helped lead the Lady Captains to
a 12-1 overall record and a 6-1 record in the USA South. She was
an impressive 9-2 overall and 6-0 in conference at No. 1 singles. At
No. 1 doubles she was 8-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play
Barragan in her first year at the helm of the Monarchs has been tabbed
the Coach of the Year. She led the
Monarchs to the regular season title with a record of 13-5 overall and 7-0 in conference action.
