USA South Women's Basketball Tournament First Round Action
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2007 USA South Women's Basketball Tournament has begun with all first round games being played on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Top-seeded Ferrum had little difficulty, defeating eighth-seeded N.C. Wesleyan, 81-50. Second-seeded Christopher Newport cruised to a 61-50 win over seventh-seeded Averett. Third-seeded Greensboro held off sixth-seeded Peace, 84-79, while fourth-seeded Shenandoah nipped fifth-seeded Methodist, 66-62.
The tournament now shifts to Christopher Newport University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24, as the Captains host the semifinals and finals. On Friday, Ferrum will battle Shenandoah in the first game at 2:00 p.m., followed by Christopher Newport taking on Greensboro at 6:00 p.m. The championship game will be the following day at 2:00 p.m.
