USA South Women's Soccer Tournament Underway

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2007 USA South Women's Soccer Tournament began on Tuesday, October 30 as the top-four seeds advanced to the semifinals. Top seeded Methodist had little trouble with league newcomer and tenth-seeded Mary Baldwin in an 11-0 win while second-seeded Christopher Newport handled seventh-seeded Shenandoah, 8-1. Third-seeded Greensboro hosted sixth-seeded N.C. Wesleyan and defeated the Bishops, 3-0 while the other Conference newcomer, fourth-seeded, Meredith defeated fifth-seeded Ferrum, 4-0.

The tournament now shifts to the campus of top-seeded Methodist who will host the semifinal and championship games. In the first semifinal contest at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 2, Greensboro will take on Christopher Newport. In semifinal game number two at 2:30 p.m., Meredith will battle Methodist. The winners of the two games will compete for the tournament title on Saturday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m.
