USA South and ODAC Set For Senior Basketball Challenge

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Select senior men's and women's basketball players from the Old Dominion and USA South Athletic Conferences will lace-up their collegiate sneakers one last time this Sunday. The third annual ODAC-USA South Men and Women's Basketball Senior Challenge will take place at N.C. Wesleyan College on March 16.

The challenge, which began in 2006, provides the graduating seniors from each of the conferences' schools the opportunity to compete in the collegiate forum one last time. USA South member Averett University served as the inaugural host while the ODAC's Roanoke College housed the two contests last season.

The games also have a higher purpose. The theme of the contests is “Sportsmanship Counts.” The games are intended to place the importance of sportsmanship and the values of fair play.

The USA South will be looking to capture the women's title for the second consecutive season after defeating the ODAC seniors, 84-77, a year ago. The two-game series is tied at one game apiece. On the men's side, the USA South is still looking for its first victory. The ODAC men defeated the USA South seniors, 108-99, in last year's contest and own a 2-0 lead in the series.

This year's women's game will begin at 1:00 p.m. while the men's tilt starts at 3:00 p.m. Both senior showcases will be held in Everett Gymnasium on the campus of N.C. Wesleyan College. Tickets will be $3 and may be purchased at the game. For more information, please contact the ODAC office at 540-387-9073, or the USA South office at 910-630-7326.
