Christopher Newport Selected as USA South Lacrosse Favorite

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Christopher Newport University, under the direction of seventh-year Head Coach Kwame Lloyd, was picked to win the USA South Athletic Conference 2008 lacrosse title in the preseason coaches' poll.  Last spring, the Captains captured both the USA South Regular Season and Tournament titles.

Christopher Newport received four of five first-place votes (16 points) as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.

Greensboro College finished second in the balloting as The Pride received 13 points and the remaining first-place vote. Methodist University rounded out the top-three as the Monarchs collected 10 points.

The 2008 USA South Lacrosse Tournament will once again be played at Springwood Park in Burlington, N.C. on April 18-19. The regular season gets underway when Christopher Newport hosts Salisbury on February 19 at 3 p.m.
