USA South Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinals Set

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2008 USA South Men's Basketball Tournament first round has concluded tonight, Wednesday, February 27, as seventh-seeded N.C. Wesleyan defeated second-seeded Ferrum,80-78, in a game played at Averett University.

The first two first round games were played on Tuesday, February 26. Top-seeded Methodist received a bye and will advance to the next round. Both contests were captured by the lower-seeded road team as sixth-seeded Greensboro defeated third-seeded Shenandoah, 63-59, while fifth-seeded Averett topped fourth-seeded Christopher Newport, 69-63.

The tournament now shifts to Christopher Newport University on Friday and Saturday, February 29-March 1, as the Captains host the semifinals and finals. On Friday, Methodist will battle Averett in the first game at 4:00 p.m., followed by Greensboro taking on N.C. Wesleyan at 8:00 p.m. The championship game will be the following day at 4:00 p.m.
