Picked to Capture USA South Men's Tennis Title
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Christopher Newport
University, under 11th-year Head Coach Rush Cole, was picked to win the
2008 USA South Athletic Conference men's tennis title in the preseason
coaches' poll. Last season, the Captains captured a share of the
program's 11th USA South regular season championship.
CNU received five of seven first-place votes (35 points) as head
coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Defending USA South Tournament Champion, Methodist University, finished
second in the balloting with 30 points and the remaining two first-place votes.
Averett University rounded out the top-three as the Cougars
collected 27 points.
The 2008 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament will once again be played at the
Burlington Tennis Center in Burlington, N.C. on April 18-20.
