Five Dixie Women's Soccer Players Named to All-Region Team

December 5, 2002 – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has released its Women's South Region Team and five Dixie players made the list. Christopher Newport's Natalie Stallings and Ashleigh Dota were both named to the First Team. Greensboro's Amanda McGlaughlin, N.C. Wesleyan's Caitlin Sanderson and Methodist's Christina Gipson all made the Third Team.

Stallings, a senior from Poquoson, VA, was the 2002 DIAC Player of the Year. She finished the year with 16 goals and four assists. Dota, a Woodbridge, VA freshman, recorded nine goals and three assists on the year. McGlaughlin was the 2002 DIAC Rookie of the Year. The Gaithersburg, MD freshman had 11 goals and six assists this season. Sanderson, a senior from Neptune, NJ, had nine goals and nine assists on the year. Gipson, a Dayton, OH sophomore, was part of a defense that gave up 1.20 goals per game. She also had three assists on the season. All five players were First Team All-DIAC.
