CNU's Stallings Named Women's Soccer Player of the Year

December 11, 2002 – Christopher Newport's Natalie Stallings has been named Player of the Year on the 2002 Virginia Sports Information Directors College Division Women's Soccer All-State Team. Heidi Taylor and Ashleigh Dota, both of CNU, were given Honorable Mention. The team is selected by the Virginia Sports Information Directors, with nominees coming from any Division II, III, NAIA or NCAA affiliated school in Virginia.
Stallings, a senior from Poquoson, VA, was the 2002 Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She tied CNU records for goals in a season (16) and goals in a game (3), as well as setting a new record for points in a season (36). She was named to the First Team All-Conference and the All-Tournament Team. Dota, a Woodbridge, VA freshman, recorded nine goals and three assists on the year. She was First Team All-Conference. She and Stallings were both named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region Team. Taylor, a freshman from Fairfax Station, VA, was part of a CNU defense that allowed just .90 goals per game. She was Second Team All-Conference.
