Three Volleyball Players Named to All-State Team

December 16, 2002 – Three Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players have been named to the 2002 VaSID College Division Volleyball All-State Team. Christopher Newport's Oksana Bouktina and Nina Richardson were both named to the First Team, while Averett's Courtney Carrington was named to the Second Team. The team is voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors, with nominees coming from any Division II, III, NAIA or NCAA affiliated school in Virginia.
Boukhtina, a senior from Kazan, Russia, averaged 3.27 kills and 2.08 digs per game this season. She is a two-time First Team All-Conference honoree. Richardson, a Poquoson, VA senior, averaged 1.13 kills, 9.77 assists and 1.64 digs per game this year. She was named First Team All-Conference in 2002 and 2001. Carrington, a junior from Yadkinville, NC, recorded 2.78 kills and 3.16 digs per game in 2002. She was named First Team All-Conference this season and Second Team in 2001.
