USA South Launches "You Tube" Channel

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - In an effort to increase the publicity of Conference events and its member institutions through the use of video content, the USA South Athletic Conference has launched a channel on the popular "You Tube" website. The videos will include, but not be limited to, coach’s comments, interviews with Conference award and tournament winning student-athletes, highlights of championship events and a monthly "Ask the Commissioner" segment. All of these videos will be housed in one location, the USA South Video Vault: www.youtube.com/usasouthathconf.

The USA South began its video broadcasting endeavors with the semifinals and finals of the 2007 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments. All six contests were available at no cost to fans on the internet. The Conference's video streaming expanded this past year to include the championship broadcast of eight sports. The new "You Tube" channel will provide an opportunity to showcase student-athletes and coaches in each of the Conference's 14 sports.

"The explosion of new media, especially on the internet, is providing opportunities to highlight the accomplishments of our teams and student-athletes," stated Commissioner Rita Wiggs. "It has been difficult for Division III institutions and conferences to receive media coverage from traditional television and print media outlets. Utilization of the "YouTube" site provides a delivery system to disseminate our team and student-athlete stories and keep our fans updated on the latest news and issues from the Conference. It is an exciting endeavor."

In addition to the Video Vault, the USA South will continue its live game broadcasts of its many Conference championships. With the assistance of those institutions hosting such events, the USA South will remain committed to the promotion of its student-athletes and coaches.
