Lacrosse All-Conference Teams Named


April 15, 2003 - The Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced its 2003 Lacrosse All-Conference selections.  The players are voted on by the lacrosse coaches and Sports Information Directors at each institution. 

Christopher Newport's Matt Turner has been named the DIAC Player of the year.  The right fielder batted .464 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI for the Captains. 

Jason Beale of Ferrum was named the Pitcher of the Year.  He was 9-0 on the season, with 62 strikeouts and a 1.97 ERA.  He was batted .489 with six home runs and 32 RBI. 

N.C. Wesleyan's Cale Strickland is the Rookie of the Year.  The third baseman batted .378 with 11 RBI for the Bishops.  He also had a .939 fielding percentage on the year.

Sean Mullaney of Greensboro was named the DIAC Rookie Pitcher of the Year.  He went 3-2 while striking out 37 batters this season.  He had a record of 3-2. 

Ferrum's Abe Naff is the 2003 Coach of the Year.  His Panthers won the regular season Dixie title after finishing 25-3, 10-2.
