Methodist and Averett Golfers Named All-American

May 20, 2003 – PING has announced it's All-American Golf Teams and the DIAC has three representatives.  Methodist's Adam Horton and Averett's Janne Mommo and Toni Karjalainen have been named First Team All-American. 

Horton had the highest scoring average this season for the Monarchs, averaging 72.1 in 19 rounds this spring. He finished in the Top 10 in six of the Monarchs’ seven spring tournaments. That included third place finishes at the El Diablo Intercollegiate and the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Horton was also honored as DIAC Rookie of the Year.

Mommo helped lead the Cougars to a second place finish at the Dixie Conference Tournament.  He finished fourth with an 146.  He was also First Team All-Conference.

Karjalainen was the 2003 DIAC Player of the Year.  He shot a 148, finishing 12th, at the Conference Tournament to pace the Cougars to their second place score of 583.
