Baseball Tournament Seeding Determined

April 12, 2004 - Following the conclusion of the regular season this weekend, the seeding for the 2004 USA South Baseball Tournament has been set.  Regular season champion Ferrum is the top seed, followed by Christopher Newport at two.  Last year's tournament champion Averett is seeded third, followed by Methodist at four and N.C. Wesleyan at five.  Greensboro is seeded sixth, while Chowan and Shenandoah round it off at the seventh and eight spots, respectively. 

The double elimination tournament will be held Wednesday through Saturday at Dan Daniel Park in Danville, VA.  In the first round, Methodist will face off against Averett at 2:00; Shenandoah will play Ferrum at 4:00; Greensboro will face Chowan at 6:00 and finally Christopher Newport will play N.C. Wesleyan at 8:00.  The semi-finals on Friday will be at 6:00 and 8:00.  If CNU wins its first-round game against NCW, they will face the winner of the MC/AU match-up in the earlier semi-final game.  If host NCW wins the CNU game, then the semi-final against MC/AU will be played at 8:00.  The SU/FC winner will meet the GC/CC winner in the other semi-final.  The championship game will be Saturday at 4:00.
