Men's Soccer Awards Announced

November 5, 2003 – The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for men's soccer.  Christopher Newport led the way with seven All-Conference members, followed closely by Greensboro with six.  CNU's Billy Lucas has been named the Player of the Year.  GC's Galen Reid is the Rookie of the Year.  Captains head coach Steve Shaw is the USA South Coach of the Year.

Lucas, a junior from Yorktown, VA, recorded eight goals and nine assists on the season to help the Captains to a first place regular season finish.  He was Second Team All-Conference last year.  Reid, a Greensboro, NC freshman, had nine points and two assists for the Pride.  The freshman helped lead the Pride to a 12-3-3 season.  In his eighth season at the helm of CNU, Shaw led his team to an 11-4-3 overall record, including going 6-0-1 in the Conference.  The Captains won the regular season title.  This is the third time Shaw has been honored as Coach of the Year.
