Two Former Dixie Student-Athletes Awarded NCAA Scholarship

Dark, from Siler City, NC received her degree in sports medicine from Methodist in December.  While there, she was a three year letter-winner in basketball.  She led the DIAC in blocked shots as a junior and second as a senior.  Dark holds both the Methodist single-season (64) and career (148) records for blocked shots.  She was named All-Conference in the 2000-01 season.  She is now pursuing her Master's degree at UNC-Pembroke.

Barton, of Upper Marlboro, MD, graduated from Greensboro in 2000 with a degree in athletic training.  The Riverdale Baptist High School graduate was a basketball player for the Pride.  He is now working towards his Master's degree at the University of San Francisco

The $6,000 scholarship is offered to ethnic minority graduates at all NCAA member institutions that will be entering the first year of initial postgraduate studies.  All applicants must be seeking to enter or have been accepted into a sports-related program or have been accepted into a sports-related program that will assist the applicant in obtaining a career in intercollegiate athletics.
