USA South Announces 25-Year Team for Softball
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2005-06 academic year
marks the 25th anniversary of women's athletics in the USA South
Athletic Conference. Beginning in the fall of the 1981-82 academic
year, the USA South, then known as the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference, incorporated four women's sports (volleyball, women's
basketball, softball and women's tennis) and awarded championships in
those sports. In conjunction with the 25th anniversary, the
conference is selecting Silver Anniversary teams in five women's
sports (volleyball, women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and
women's tennis). Today the Conference is pleased to announce the
Silver Anniversary team for softball.
Laura Bowman, Averett (2001-2004)
Four-time Second Team All-Conference as a catcher; Two-time
Conference All-Tournament; Batted .353 as a freshman in 2001; 84 career
RBIs, including 31 in 2002; Had 150 career hits; 39 career doubles,
including 14 in 2002
