DIAC Spring Pre-Season Polls Announced

February 12, 2002 - The Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the results of its 2003 men's golf, women's lacrosse, softball and men's and women's tennis polls.  The baseball poll was released February 7th.  The polls are voted on by the respective sport's coach at each school. 

Methodist's men's golf team has been picked to finish first this season.  Last year's champion, Greensboro, came in second.  The Pride, last season's women's lacrosse conference champion, has been selected to finish first in 2003.  Last season's regular season champion, Christopher Newport, is slated to finish second.  The Monarchs and Captains shared last year's regular season softball title.  This year, the DIAC softball coaches have selected Methodist to finish first, with Christopher Newport coming in a close second.  In another close finish, Methodist has been forecasted to finish first in men's tennis, with Averett finishing second.  The two split last season's championship.  The Monarchs' women's tennis team has also been picked to finish first, with the Captains finishing second.  The Monarchs won last season's championship.
