Two Athletes Named All-State Academic

May 28, 2003 –  The Virginia Sports Information Directors have announced their All-State Academic Team for all divisions.   Christopher Newport's Aimee Gibbs and Ferrum's Lindsay Cox were among those honored.  Athletes must have obtained a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). He/she must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at each institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshman and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have complete at least one full academic year at the institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in 50% of the team’s games.   Gibbs has been a standout runner for the Captains for the last three seasons.  Cox has excelled on the softball diamond for the Panthers during her first three years there.
