Methodist's Wallace Named All-American
May 19, 2003 – For the second straight season, Methodist’s Kristen Wallace is receiving a high honor for NCAA Division III softball. Wallace was selected 2003 third team NCAA Division III All-American on Friday as part of the NCAA Division III World Series in Salem, Va. Wallace was one of 45 players selected by the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) member coaches. Last season, Wallace was a first-team selection and the first ever All-American in the history of Methodist fastpitch softball. Wallace, a junior from Fayetteville, N.C., led the Monarchs in hitting this season with a .442 batting average, 42 runs scored and 17 RBIs from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Wallace started the season with a 20-game hitting streak, and went hitless in only six of the Monarchs’ 48 games.
