USA South Announces 25-Year Team for Women's Basketball

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2005-06 academic year marks the 25th anniversary of women's athletics in the USA South Athletic Conference.  Beginning in the fall of the 1981-82 academic year, the USA South, then known as the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, incorporated four women's sports (volleyball, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis) and awarded championships in those sports.  In conjunction with the 25th anniversary, the conference is selecting Silver Anniversary teams in five women's sports (volleyball, women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis).  Today the Conference is pleased to announce the Silver Anniversary team for women's basketball.

Karen Barefoot, Christopher Newport (1990-1994)
Three-time All-American; Three-time All-South Region; Two-time Conference Player of the Year; Four-time First Team All-Conference; Three-time Conference All-Tournament; First player at any level, to score 2,000 points and have 1,000 assists

Pam Stewart, Christopher Newport  (1984-1987)
1985-86 All-American; 1985-86 All-South Region; Three-time First Team All-Conference; One-time Conference Tournament MVP; Scored 1,581 career points, pulled down 373 career rebounds, had 219 career assists and 176 career steals

Alice Streetman, Christopher Newport (1990-1995)
One-time Conference Player of the Year; Three-time First Team All-Conference; One-time Conference Tournament MVP; Scored 1,652 career points, had 496 career rebounds, dished out 220 career assists and had 292 career steals

Misty Hart, Christopher Newport (1995-1998) 
Two-time All-American; Two-time All-South Region; Two-time Conference Player of the Year; Three-time First Team All-Conference; One-time Conference Tournament MVP; Scored 1,326 career points, had 484 career rebounds, dished out 300 assists and had 185 steals

Tia Moore, Christopher Newport (1999-2003)
One-time All-South Region; Three-time Conference Player of the Year; Four-time First Team All-Conference; Two-time Conference All-Tournament; One-time Academic All-Conference; Scored 1,585 career points, had 899 rebounds, dished out 126 assists and had 136 steals

Tina McBride, Ferrum (2000-2003)
One-time All-American; One-time First Team All-Conference; Three-time Second Team All-Conference; Three-time Academic All-Conference; Ferrum's third all-time scorer with 1,324 points

Kia Williams, Ferrum (1993-1996)
Two-time First Team All-Conference; One-time Conference Player of the Year; One-time All-American; Two-time All-State Second Team; One-time Conference All-Tournament; One-time Conference Tournament MVP; Holds three Ferrum school-records, game scoring (44 points), season free throw attempts (185) and career free throw attempts (451)

Robin Brooks, N.C. Wesleyan (1985-1987)
Two-time First Team All-Conference; Two-time Conference All-Tournament; One-time All-American; Two-time N.C. Wesleyan Outstanding Female Athlete and MVP; N.C. Wesleyan Hall of Fame member; In two years scored 1,002 points, grabbed 483 rebounds and blocked 45 shots

Misty Carneal, N.C. Wesleyan (1998-2002)
Two-time All-Conference; Two-time Conference Player of the Year; One-time All-American; 2002 Don Scalf Award Winner; 2002 N.C. Wesleyan's Outstanding Athlete; One-time Academic All-District; One-time Academic All-Conference; N.C. Wesleyan's all-time leading scorer with 1,661 points

Deanna Estes, Shenandoah (1994-1998)
